A. Wiebecke-Gottstein: “Kleznacht” guitar

Note: This article only includes the guitar part!
"Kleznacht" uses melodies from German-language Christmas carols, but changes them with new rhythms and meters and by placing scales of "Klezmer" music under them instead of the original major or minor scales.
The music was originally arranged and recorded for nyckelharpa, double bass and guitar, with various percussion instruments added to some of the pieces. For the present music edition, an attempt was made to generalize the parts so that they should also be playable on other instruments. The first part is intended for a higher instrument and the second part for a lower instrument. If the range of the instruments used deviates from the notation, the performers themselves have to consider sensible transpositions. For the various transposing instruments, both melody parts are available in C, Bb and Eb transpositions. On some pieces there are double stops. For monophonic instruments, it is recommended to play the lower notes as short suggestions for the upper notes.
The percussion parts are only suggestions. They can be filled, changed or supplemented at will. Using the chord progressions that are notated in the guitar part, additional instruments can be added or the guitar can be replaced with another chordal instrument.
